2002-08-03 - 12:18 a.m. Now that I've seen a koala I finally feel like I'm really in Australia. :) I had a day off today (well mostly) and went to the wonderful Lone Pine koala sanctuary with my new friend, the rally car driver Mark Stacey. I held a koala, fed soft little kangaroos right out of my hand, saw hundreds of lorikeets, and visited dingoes (two new puppies!!), a tasmanian devil, wombats, all sorts of beautiful birds, possums, lizards, emus, and old koalas, baby koalas, male koalas, female koalas, all sorts of cool things. I didn't see the echidnas though. After that we went up to Mount Coo-tha and caught the breathtaking view of all of Brisbane. Then we rushed to the mall to get an adapter so that I could re-charge the digital camera without having to wait to use the Duckworths' converter, and the very helpful guy at Dick Smith saved me a load of money by helping me find the right adapter. (I didn't need a converter.) Very cool. Then I rushed home, had a snack and some great dessert at AIX again, and made my way back over to 4ZZZ (Triple Zed radio station) for an interview with the lovely Laura on DJam Sandwich. Then I hung around to play a set for Tommy's "Original Drum" program, which I highly reccommend. He's a stand-up guy, I had an absolute blast. One final thing at the end of the night... I had to catch a cab because I was late coming back to the Powerhouse to catch Juaanellii's "Turning the Tables on Monsieur Eric Satie" (I'm missing Satie Pool as I write this) and who should be my cab driver? A famous Indian songwriter (think Bhangra). No kidding - he gave me the poster to prove it. Mr. Manjit Boparai. A cool guy, we had a good chat. EVERYONE'S cool in Australia.
